The thrill of attracting a moose by calling it during the rut is an experience that will be with you for the rest of your life. So what’s holding you back? Here are our tips for honing your moose calling skills.

1. Practice where you won’t be heard by others
   In the relative sound-proof safety of your garage or shed, you can practice calling for hours without disturbing loved ones. Here you can focus on establishing the pitch and tone you will use in your calling. The goal is to gain consistency in your delivery. This takes time and practice.
2. Check out instructional clips on YouTube
   A quick search on YouTube for “moose calling techniques” will give you hundreds of samples to explore. You can also purchase instructional videos for moose calling to get coaching and tips.
3. Practice your patience, too
   When you’re out on the hunting grounds, you will need patience to make calling work. You could be waiting for hours before receiving any response to your calls. Don’t stress; your experienced moose hunting guide will be able to assess your surroundings to ensure you are situated on the downwind side of where you hope to call the moose from. On a guided hunt, your efforts are put to good use.
4. Get pumped up!
   Save moose call recordings on your iPod or other audio device to listen to on your way up to camp. It’s a great way to get excited for your BC moose hunt and prepare your call for big time success.
5. Hide your scent
