We offer all inclusive combination hunts, giving you the opportunity to hunt for secondary animals as well. Our Fall Moose hunts include deer & wolf and are 10 day hunts, with part of the 1st and 10th day being travel and setting up time. In the Spring, our black bear hunts for either 1 or 2 bears and include wolf and are 7 day hunts, again having part of the 1st & 7th day being travel time.

We hunt either 1x1 or 2x1, using 4x4's, boat or horseback. We have quiet, gentle mountain horses for riding and packing, with good appropriate equipment for your comfort.

Spring Black Bear & Wolf

At Batnuni Lake Guides & Outfitters, we have a very healthy population of black bear and some color-phased bears as well.

We are strictly a Spot & Stalk operation, as baiting wildlife is illegal in B.C.  Hunting is conducted from 4x4’s, boats and/or horses, where you will glass the side hills and old logging cuts.

Our spot & stalk technique has given our hunters a 100% opportunity over the last couple of years.   100% success on our spring black bear harvest in 2005.... 14 bear hunters & 14 bears. Some of our bears have weighed in up to 500 lbs and you have the chance of getting a bear anywhere from 5 to 7 l/2 feet in size. In the fall, the ripe berries on our side hills draws bears from miles around, so be prepared to see lots of bears during our moose hunts in September until the middle of October.  In the later season, however, the bear start to retreat for the winter and can get harder to find.

Wolves can be included with the hunt.

Our Bull to Cow ratio is one of the highest in the province. 2006 gave us 90% opportunity on our Moose. As a rule, the Rut starts around the last week of September running through the third week of October. This is the time frame that we would be most successful in getting a good Bull. However, "Big Bulls" are smart and elusive. In order to get a chance at them, you need patience, persistence and some luck.

We have many trails cut into these prime hunting areas.

Over the past couple of years, we have taken Moose in the 50+ range with a few having drop tines and other dagger points. In 2004, we were 100% opportunity on our Bull Moose. Because of inclement weather, our 2005 hunts only provided us with an 85% opportunity rate.Hunting lynx at Batnuni Lake

Hunting with Batnuni Lake Guides & Outfitters is conducted from 4x4's, boat or horseback. We hunt in late September and most of October. During the rut, our guides are excellent in calling the Bulls, which can make for some very exciting hunting.

Cougar/Lynx
(Hunting Cougar, Bobcat and Lynx in British Columbia)
We offer a special predatory hunt package offering the challenge of hunting indigenous cats of this area - Cougar, and Lynx. The high Hunting lynx at Batnuni Lakepopulation of these predators provides ample opportunities to take one of these cats. Since we have an abundant wildlife population in the area, we observe a large Cougar population.

These big cats make impressive trophies.

During the winter months, we have a high number of large cougar and lynx, as their size can be determined from the tracks in the snow. Jim, our guides and their trail hounds will assist in the pursuit.

We provide our best, well-bred hounds for our cougar and small cat hunts.

Our terrain is well-suited for cougar habitat. The cats rely on stealth and their ability to avoid detection while stalking their prey. The natural cover provided throughout our terrain is well-suited for cougar habitat. The high population of the cougar's prey (deer, moose and yes, elk) in our territory increases the possibilities of a great chase.

Following the hounds in full pursuit of a cougar makes this a thrilling chase. This is considered a less traditional hunt and "arguably the most exotic and coveted trophy North America has to offer". Have some fun and come hunt cougars and lynx with us this winter.
